College Student Mentors

College Student Mentors

Some pilots choose to go to a 4-year university to obtain their wings. We partner with these students and pair them up with other students who are progressing through their own aviation journey. This allows both students to study, teach and learn together.

See below for some of our current college student mentors!

Cole’s young aviation career started in 2021 at Fleming field where he obtained his private pilots license. He is now a student at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana majoring in Professional Flight Technology. Currently he is working towards obtaining his instrument rating. Working with virtual aviation allowed Cole to learn the systems of the g1000 and gain experience mentoring fellow students who had not yet begun their flying. He hopes to be able to assist fellow students looking to pursue a college degree in aviation just like him.

a line tech at Thunderbird aviation at Flying Cloud airport and have been there for 10 months.

I’m planning on attending Mankato state in the fall of 2023 to pursue the rest of my ratings in

hopes of becoming either a airline pilot or corporate pilot.

My name is Zack Retka I am currently a freshman at the University Of North Dakota majoring in Commercial Aviation. I have loved airplanes since I can remember, but I started my aviation career in 2021 through Virtual Aviation Minnesota and a class at Eagan High School. I'm currently working towards getting my private pilot's license flying in the Piper Archers but hope one day to work for a major airline. I look forward to helping other people follow their passion for aviation just like I was given.
